About the best part of "Guerrillas" are Naipaul's unflinching descriptions of the land, which do go on after a while but are the most re-readable parts of this book; and a scene where Jane, Roche, and another white named Harry watch the rising smoke of riot from the comparative safety of their residential enclave, "The Ridge", realizing with /5(30).

Guerrillas is a terrific novel of its time and a shadow of Naipaul’s strongest work. A well-paced and entertaining book, Guerrillas never falters but proves to be a political thriller which disturbs the privacy of the three main protagonists.

Political disturbance gives birth /5. If you want to read a great book, that is much more academic on guerrilla warfare, check out "Isolating the Guerrilla" by Trevett.

I had a copy of this book when it was classified, originally published by HERO. This book is predominantly on counter-guerrilla warfare but covers all the salient points of guerrilla warfare in extreme detail/5(3).

Guerrillas ranges widely, from the guerrilla movement’s origins in poverty, oppression and exclusion; its tactics in warfare; the ill-fated experiment with Sandinista government in Nicaragua; to the subsequent ‘normalization’ of guerrilla movements within democratic societies.
