About the best part of "Guerrillas" are Naipaul's unflinching descriptions of the land, which do go on after a while but are the most re-readable parts of this book; and a scene where Jane, Roche, and another white named Harry watch the rising smoke of riot from the comparative safety of their residential enclave, "The Ridge", realizing with /5(30).

Guerrillas is a terrific novel of its time and a shadow of Naipaul’s strongest work. A well-paced and entertaining book, Guerrillas never falters but proves to be a political thriller which disturbs the privacy of the three main protagonists.

I had a copy of this book when it was classified, originally published by HERO. This book is predominantly on counter-guerrilla warfare but covers all the salient points of guerrilla warfare in extreme detail/5(3).
